Lookouts Shut Out in Series Finale Against Jackson
(lookouts.com) CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Joel Payamps and three other pitchers combined for a shutout as the Jackson Generals defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 3-0 on Tuesday.
Payamps (6-5) picked up the win after he struck out three and walked one while allowing five hits over six scoreless innings. Felix Jorge (9-3) went 7 2/3 innings, allowing three runs and 10 hits in the Southern League game. He also struck out three and walked one. Joey Krehbiel recorded his first save of the season.
In the third inning, Jackson went up 1-0 early on a double by Kevin Cron that scored Victor Reyes. The Generals scored again in the eighth when Cron hit a sacrifice fly and Reyes scored when a runner was caught stealing.
Reyes singled three times, scoring two runs in the win.
For the Lookouts, Edgar Corcino doubled and singled twice. Chattanooga was held scoreless for the ninth time this season, while the Jackson staff recorded its 12th shutout of the year.
