ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga.  (CBS46) – A metro Atlanta neighborhood is on high alert after several cats were found dead.

Residents in Conyers, located southeast of Atlanta, say a pack of dogs is responsible.

The pack of dogs is targeting the Olde Town neighborhood and one man told CBS46 he found his neighbor’s cat in pieces in his front yard.

“I got up and I looked out and I saw something laying in the front yard and it was half a cat,” Mark Shoate said.

Shoate says despite calling animal control, he was left to clean up the mess.

“They told us there wasn’t a whole lot they can do because it was on private property and just to pick it up and throw it in the trash can,” Shoate added.

The manager of Rockdale County’s Animal Control Shelter says they can’t remove dead animals from private property, but they have been searching for four dogs who they believe are responsible for attacks.
