Marion County Sheriff’s Office warns of phone scam

MARION COUNTY –The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is warning individuals of a phone scam that is affecting some people.

They say they have received reports of a scammer calling individuals and identifying himself as “Lt. Prince” with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

The MCSO says they do have a Lieutenant Prince, however, neither he nor any member of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department will ever call and ask you to pay a fine over the phone.

They say they do not collect fine payments by phone.
