McKamey Animal Center takes in three-legged dog

Dog was shot in Georgia over weekend; leg was amputated

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) — The McKamey Animal Center recently took in a dog that is now missing a leg after being shot over the weekend.

The shelter does not know who shot the dog, but they do know it was shot in Georgia.

McKamey’s Executive Director Inga Fricke said that “Good Samaritans” found the terrier mix in the woods on Sunday.

It was eventually brought to McKamey, where the center’s veterinarians took over.

“It was actually very, very serious and it’s very fortunate that he was found when he was,” Fricke said. “We were not able to save his leg, but they did save his life.”

Fricke says the dog is still at McKamey’s veterinary clinic and will stay there until the center’s veterinarians believe he is stable enough to be put in a foster home.

The dog is currently in good spirits after a few days of recovery.
