Mocs Head Into SoCon Tournament on Four Game Losing Streak

Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Mocs open SoCon tournament action Saturday against Wofford.
Chattanooga hopes to regroup in Asheville after closing out the regular season on a four game losing streak.
Winning streaks or losing streaks don’t matter ahead of the SoCon tournament according to Mocs center Justin Tuoyo
Said Tuoyo:”It’s postseason. Everyboyd is 0-0. I mean we’re not worried about what we did last week or two weeks ago. It’s a whole new tournament. A whole new ballgame.”
The Mocs are seeded fourth, and maybe that’s a good thing.
Said head coach Matt McCall:”In the last three years, there have been 51 teams that haven’t been the top seed in the tournament that have won their tournament at the non-BCS level. 51 in the last three years that have not been the top seed in their tournament.”
McCall expects a wide-open SoCon tournament.
Said McCall:”You look at it. Three teams split for the championship. That right there shows you how wide open it is. Let’s not forget. We had Greensboro, who has the conference championship, down 40 in our building, and they ended up winning our league.”
McCall hopes his team has an edge or swagger in Asheville.
Said McCall:”What has made this team good is the chip they’ve had on their shoulder. We’ve talked about that after we lost to VMI. Where is our chip? Where is our hunger?”
While the Mocs be missing that chip, their head coach still has confidence.
Said McCall:”You’ve got to have a belief. That’s the biggest thing. I told our team today that I’m packing three shirts, three ties, and three suits. I’m planning on being there throughout the weekend.”
