Nine Ironman athletes needed ER treatment after competition

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Even though more than 2,000 people competed, only nine Ironman participants needed treatment at Erlanger Medical Center this weekend.
    Hospital officials tell us three of those athletes were hospitalized because of their injuries.
    Two suffered breathing problems and one had a shoulder injury.
    The remaining athletes were injured in bicycle crashes, had hurt ankles or suffered from weakness, nausea, and dehydration.
    The seven male and two female athletes injured ranged in age from their early 30s to their mid 60s.
