Parkridge East Hospital Mural

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF)- At Parkridge East Hospital, street artist Kelsey Montague adds life to the courtyard outside of the labor and newborn services unit.

“New moms and dads will be able to hold up their babies like the stark is delivering it to them” said Montague.

Based out of Denver, Montague is grateful that Parkridge East allowed her to showcase her skills.

A mural now stands over 20 feet tall and is sure to deliver joy to parents.

“They’ve been amazing here at the hospital” said Montague. “I love coming to Chattanooga. It’s such a great city. Tennessee has become like a second home to me and my art.”

The hospital will expand their ‘Women’s Services’ unit by adding over 4 thousand square feet filled with postpartum, labor, and delivery beds.

In addition, the waiting room, 24 hour nursery, and “The Birth Place Center” will be enhanced in the near future.

Montague hopes her project can make parents feel right at home.

“It’s a beautiful space that they’re going to keep re-doing here” said Montague. “I hope that it’s a space that moms and dads feel safe and that the staff loves so they feel comfortable to come and relax. And it’s really nice because every time I go in and out and I go use the restroom I’m walking by all these little infants sleeping. So it’s really a beautiful experience.”
