Providence Ministry celebrates 20 years of addiction recovery programs

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — A local Ministry is celebrating twenty years of providing addiction recovery programs to the community.

Several men who have over come addictions, gathered at Providence Ministry in Dalton to recognize the ministry’s program anniversary.

The men’s recovery program started in 1997.

Around 2500 men have come through the 6-month long, faith-based program.

The program has about a 65 percent completion rate.

The program has helped men battle all types of addictions through the years, with alcohol addictions being the most common.

Operations Director and Chaplin Wesley Noland encourages people facing addictions to seek help.

“Reach out for help in whatever way you can. Some people don’t need an intensive program like we have. They may be able to do it through some sort of 12 step meeting…but the best thing that they can do is to not be embarrassed, not be ashamed, not be afraid, but to reach out, and say ‘I need help’ – that’s the most important thing they can do,” Noland says.
