Pursuit of Happiness campaign next Friday

Organization holding a clothing drive for the homeless

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A local non-profit will be busy next week doing its part to help our homeless neighbors.

Next Friday, local nonprofit Pursuit of Happiness will be putting on its inaugural clothing drive for the homeless community located on 11th street.

The clothing drive is intended to provide those living in the tent city with essentials, but organization C-E-O Michael Gordon is emphasizing the factors that cause people to be homeless.

“Interventions and early preventions, treating trauma is what’s most important to us at the Pursuit of Happiness, and what we’re saying — these untreated mental illnesses early in a child’s life could lead to effects of homelessness.”

Socks, jackets, scarves, and other items that will help the homeless keep warm will be accepted next Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 4001 Rossville Boulevard.

Next Friday, items will be accepted on-site at the tent city, all night.
