Sale Creek SWAT Standoff Suspect Faces Attempted Murder Charges

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The man who made suicidal threats and opened fire on Hamilton County deputies Wednesday faces six counts of attempted first degree murder.

Authorities say 46 year old Kevin Lamar New fired several rounds at them when they went to do a “well-being” check on him in Sale Creek.

They called out the SWAT team after that.

But New reportedly fired on officers at least two more times before being taken into custody.
