Soddy Daisy’s Ty Boeck Posting Big Numbers as Two-Way Player
Soddy Daisy, TN-(WDEF) It’s certainly not unusual for kids to play both ways in high school football, but not many achieve the level of two-way success that Soddy Daisy’s Ty Boeck has enjoyed.
The Trojans running back, slash receiver, slash linebacker, has done it all for Soddy Daisy.
You might think there are two players wearing number 13 for Soddy Daisy, given Ty Boeck’s production.
Said Soddy Daisy head coach Justin Barnes:”He’s our leading rusher, leading scorer, and leading tackler. He has been an anchor for both sides of the ball.”
Said Boeck:”I don’t like being off the field. I like being on the field where I can help my team to win. Anyway I can do that, I want to do it.”
Boeck isn’t kidding either.
When you hear coach Barnes talk about some of Boeck’s bigger games, it’s hard to believe he’s playing both ways.
Said Barnes:”Going into a big game with Rhea Co, and we know we have to stop the run. He comes out with around 21 or 22 tackles. I mean it’s unreal. Against Ooltewah he was pretty close to 100 yards rushing, and I think he had over 100 yards receiving.”
Imagine how Boeck feels after a game.
Said Boeck:”I always spend a lot of time in the locker room after games. It’s brutal.”
When Soddy Daisy’s quarterback got hurt last year, guess who stepped in under center.
Said Barnes:”He started more games at quarterback than anybody else for us last year. Going into last year, we never thought that would have happened. I keep telling him had he been a quarterback his whole life, he probably would have been able to go to college on that.”
Coach Barnes explains what makes Boeck so special.
Said Barnes:”He’s just a natural athlete one. Two he is a coaches son, and so he has that mentality of how to play the game and how to play it right. When you talk to him about football schemes, it just clicks with him.”
