Standoff in Red Bank Last Several Hours

RED BANK, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Red Bank man is being evaluated at a hospital, after holding up law enforcement for several hours Sunday afternoon.

Red Bank Police Chief Tim Christol tells News 12 it all started around 2 p.m., after officers responded to a shots fired call at Laurel Apartments on Dayton Boulevard.

When police arrived, they had to talk to the man through his front door, and he wouldn’t open it.

Officers called in the Mobile Crisis Unit to evaluate him, but he still wouldn’t leave the apartment.

They then brought in the S.W.A.T. Team, which had to deploy tear gas.

Law enforcement was eventually able to negotiate with the man around 7 p.m., and he was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

No one was hurt.
