UPDATE: Sunday morning shooting on Carousel Road, one dead

Cornelius DouglasChattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) – An investigation by News 12 Now has uncovered additional information related to an early morning shooting on Carousel Road Sunday.

Both the victim, Cornelius Douglas, 27 and the suspect Jermichael Tillery, 22, have a history of run-ins with the police.

Jermichael TilleryDouglas had multiple convictions for drug charges, in addition to a previous conviction for illegal possession of a weapon.  He was also  arrested just 4 days ago for violating his probation.

Prior to the arrest for criminal homicide, Tillery  was already awaiting trial for drug possession, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of illegal possession of a dangerous weapon, theft, reckless endangerment and evading arrest.

Tillery was previously convicted on drug charges. He was also arrested 12 days ago on a charge of tampering with evidence.

Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) – The deceased individual found at the scene has been identified as Cornelius Douglas, 27. The victim’s family has been notified.

The second victim, Jermichael Tillery, 22, who was located a block away, has been identified as the suspect in this homicide case. Tillery has been arrested and charged with Criminal Homicide and Possession of a firearm with intent to go armed.


Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) – Early Sunday morning, the Chattanooga Police Department responded to 1418 Carousel Road on a report of a person shot.

Two victims were found who had sustained injuries; one person was deceased when officers arrived on the scene and a second was found a block away suffering from a gunshot wound.

HCEMS transported the second victim to a local hospital.

Chattanooga Violent Crimes Bureau Investigators are working on the facts of the shooting and are asking anyone with information regarding this crime to call 423-698-2525.  The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
