TBI reveals 2022 Tennessee deaths by law enforcement
TENNESSEE (WDEF) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released a study that details deaths by law enforcement during 2022.
The report reveals that there were 28 deadly use-of-force incidents in Tennessee during 2022.
It also highlights that white subjects account for 60% of those killed during deadly use-of-force incidents. Black/African American subjects account for 35% in that category.
Additionally, 19 of these occurred on a highway, road, alley, sidewalk or street, and six took place within a residence.
The information comes from incidents submitted through Tennessee law enforcement agencies.
The TBI said their data is divided into three categories: deadly use-of-force incidents, arrest-related non-forcible deaths and deaths in custody.
