TDOT announces new ramp project on I 24 in downtown Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Get ready for a major construction project on I 24 in downtown Chattanooga.
TDOT announces their next project will be creating a frontage road for the interstate on the downtown stretch after the bend.
The plan is to scrap the current set of looping entrances and exits and replace it with a new, one-way ramp and frontage road.
You will be able to pull back up on I 24 west in the area of Howard School.
Most of the construction will actually be on the south side (Lookout Mountain side) of the interstate.
TDOT is still in the early stages of the project.
They are waiting for an environmental impact statement and still must buy 14 tracts of property for the new frontage road.
They don’t expect to begin construction until the second half of 2019.
