TECH BYTE: Apps Help You Make, Save Money

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — We’re all looking to save a buck or two, with prices on pretty much everything going up.

There are some smartphone apps that’ll help you save some money.

You can save money and cut back on food waste? Sounds like a win-win to me!

The “Too Good To Go” and “Flashfood” apps help you do both.

And they couldn’t come at a better time, as food prices continue to rise.

With “Too Good To Go,” restaurants, bakeries, and supermarkets across the country are making more money, while saving you money, and reducing their daily food waste.

Use it to track down food for a discount, that would otherwise be thrown away.

The “Flashfood” app works with grocery stores nationwide, to sell items nearing their expiration dates for about half the price.

It’s pretty crazy to think that 40 percent of edible food in the U.S. gets thrown away each year.

And, of course, having a second job or side hustle is another way to make some extra money.

The “Sniffspot” app lets users earn that extra cash with little to no work.

It’s great for those who live in smaller spaces like an apartment or condo, who don’t have a yard, so they can temporarily rent someone else’s!

You can let your pet roam free for a bit without a leash. There are no breed restrictions to worry about.

I’m sure your pet will thank you for it later.

As for other rental apps?

“Swimply” is simply an easy way to rent your pool out to people for some more money.

The “Neighbor” app allows you to get paid if someone uses your storage space to keep their stuff, or park their car, RV, or boat.

Other ways to save money on food?

It’s also a good idea to check out grocery store apps for information on any coupons or sales they have happening.
