Thousands of holiday wreaths placed at Chattanooga National Cemetery
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — More than 8,000 holiday wreaths were placed at the Chattanooga National Cemetery today by volunteers to honor and remember veterans.
The US Department of Veterans Affairs’ Chattanooga National Cemetery Director Michael Henshaw said this year the cemetery received the most wreaths they’ve ever received and the most volunteers.
The wreath laying ceremony was arranged by the Civil Air Patrol’s TN Wing, Group II with the help of other veterans organizations. The ceremony was a part of “Wreaths Across America” which distributes the holiday wreaths as a tribute to veterans across the country.
All 135 VA cemeteries receive at least 7 wreaths each year.
