Update: THP Releases Names of Victims Of Deadly Crash
Update: The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the two people who died after a crash early this morning in Marion County.
It happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 at around 2 in the morning.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a tractor trailer driven by 54 year old Chidule Lackson crossed the center median and hit another tractor trailer head on.
That caused an explosion that killed 60-year old old Michael Lee Cardin in that other truck.
After that crash, the tractor trailer then continued down the highway, and hit another tractor trailer, and a truck.
Chidule Lackson also died in the crash.
The multi car accident tied up traffic for hours.
“It is very unusual when you have explosions and fire and things of that natural. It is tough on the emergency workers and the recovery workers,” said Lt. John Harmon.
The THP critical incident response team is conducting an extensive investigation to determine why that trailer left his lane.
