Two Festivals Bring Many to Coolidge Park Saturday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Two festivals dominated the northshore at Coolidge Park Saturday.
One festival was called Vegfest. It celebrated the vegans in our community and helped raise awareness about a plant based diet.
The executive director of Triangle Vegfest Expos, the organization running vegfest, said that, “A lot of people come and not know it’s a vegan festival, and they’ll order something like Oh My Cod, which is vegan sea food, and not know that it’s vegan, and not know that it’s not fish either.”
There were food, art, and organizational vendors along with live musicians. This Vegfest was one of several held across the Southeast annually.
Next door, the Association of Visual Arts (AVA) was hosting their second annual Between the Bridges Art Festival featuring exclusively 44 local artists. The director of special events for AVA, Sarah Moore, said that, “This festival here everybody is local, which is really exciting for us. The art community here has grown by leaps and bounds. We have so many wonderful artists who are able to sell at festivals, and we have just some really fantastic art available this year.”
AVA also hosts the Four Bridges Art Festival in the spring. They also host other events and community engagements throughout the year.
