UTC loses coach Russ Huesman to Richmond
RICHMOND, Virginia (WDEF) – UTC is losing their head football coach who brought the program back to national prominence.
The University of Richmond has announced that they have hired Russ Huesman as their new head football coach.
Huesman came to UTC from Richmond, where he was defensive coordinator.
He worked for the program for 4 years before UTC hired him away in 2009.
Coach Huesman took a losing football program and turned it into a national power, making the playoffs for the last three years.
They finished in first place of the Southern Conference in the last three years, and rose to number three in the national rankings during this season.
Coach Huesmann has talked to several of his assistant coaches about joining him in Richmond.
