Valerie Bray pleads guilty to running down Baylor runner

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Valerie Bray pleaded guilty in court Tuesday morning to criminally negligent homicide in the death of Cameron Bean last year on Moccasin Bend Road.

Bean was a nationally known steeple chase runner who was preparing for a triathlon in September of 2015.

The Baylor graduate was 28 when he died.

Bray was originally charged with vehicular homicide.

But as her trial was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, prosecutors announced a deal where she would plead guilty to a pair of lesser charges.

She will be sentenced in February.
