MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man refusing to stop for state troopers caused a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday, according to the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD). They say a responding officer arrested him after deploying a taser.

The fire department says Gary Grimes, 44, was driving a 2003 Dodge Neon. They say he was the only one injured in the crash.

A semi-truck was traveling east on I-24 when Grimes refused to stop for troopers, according to the HVFD.

Grimes then left the roadway near the 160-mile marker and hit a guardrail. They say that after coming back onto the roadway, Grimes struck the semi-truck.

The HVFD says Grimes is being charged with reckless driving, DUI, suspended driver’s license, and due care.

The fire department says Grimes was not wearing his seat belt, and he has minor injuries.
