Wreaths placed at Chattanooga National Cemetery
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — More than a dozen volunteer organizations participated in the Wreaths Across America ceremony and even more helped distribute wreaths on the grave sites at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
They had more than 9,000 this year which is 1,000 more than last year.
“It is a great opportunity to remember our veterans and the sacrifices they and their families made and so the focus is to honor the veterans, to remember the families and to teach the future generations about what’s going on here. There is a price to our freedom and this is a great way to teach and reinforce that,” says Larry Stewart with Wreaths Across America.
People in every timezone participated in a moment of silence at the same time today.
