100 North Georgia families got free produce Friday

WILDWOOD, Ga. (WDEF) – More than 100 families in North Georgia got some free produce Friday.

The North Georgia Worship Center gave away 1,700 pounds of fresh produce Friday from noon until 2 p.m. in Wildwood.

Each family received about 15 to 20 pounds of food.

The free food was passed out on a first come, first serve basis.

Pastor Nick Forshee of the North Georgia Worship Center said, “We’re just trying to be a help to people to help them stay healthy, and of course help with their budgets a little bit by supplying some fresh produce, and some other items to just, like I said help out with the budgets, you know, people just getting their kids in school and so much other stuff going on that eats at our finances, we just wanted to do something to be a help.”

Organizers hope to make this a monthly event.
