Chattanooga Zoo holds first “Zoo Year’s Eve”

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Zoo is enjoying its first “Zoo Year’s Eve” celebration.

Workers here wanted to show guests how the different cultures represented at the zoo kick off the New Year.

They featured Africa, Asia, plus North and South America.

There were arts and crafts, various educational activities, and even meet and greets, where kids and adults could meet the animals and ask questions.

“The zoo wanted to start its own tradition since so many traditions are shared around the world. And bringing kids out to the zoo to celebrate these traditions sort of gives the kids a way to celebrate New Year’s, as well,” says Courtney Ford with the Chattanooga Zoo.

Workers say they plan to continue this new tradition next year.
