UPDATE: Child killed, 5 injured in crash on Taylor’s Ridge Tuesday night

CHATTOOGA COUNTY, Georgia (WDEF) – The Georgia State Patrol has released updated information on the fatal crash Tuesday night on Taylor’s Ridge.

According to the state patrol, 33 year old Kourtney Renay Hines of Summerville has been charged with Expired Tag, Driving on Wrong Side of Roadway, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Serious Injury By Vehicle, 1st degree Homicide By Vehicle, two counts of Endangering Child Under 14 Years of Age While DUI, No Proof of Insurance, two counts of Safety Restraint Violation, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, and DUI.

 


CHATTOOGA COUNTY, Georgia (WDEF) – One child has died and five other people injured in a crash Tuesday night on Taylor’s Ridge in northwest Georgia.

It happened at the scenic overlook on Georgia around 8:39 PM.

Troopers believe that a Kia Spectra was heading north on Highway 27 and ran off the road in a curve, over-corrected and hit a Nissan Quest coming the other way.

The Spectra then flipped, ejecting two children.

11 year old Kendrick Hines from Summerville was pronounced dead on the scene.

Seven year old Keenan Hines was flown to a hospital in Chattanooga with serious injuries.

The driver, 33 year old Kourtney Renay Hines, was also taken to the hospital.

Three victims in the other vehicle are all from Trion.

And they were all taken to a hospital in Rome.

8 year old John Carlos Deleon was transferred to another hospital with a serious skull fracture.

16 year old Elder Moarlesaguirre was driving.

Both he and 45 year old Marly Deleon Medida were treated and released.

The other injured passengers are 8 year old John Carlos Deleon and 45 year old Marly Deleon Medida.

The GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team has been on the scene of the crash all day.

They say charges are pending in the case one their report is completed.
