‘Dawgs Dynamic Duo Facing Off in Super Bowl
ATLANTA, GA-(WDEF-TV) The University of Georgia has been a running back factory since the 1980’s when Herschel Walker won the Heisman. This season, former Georgia running backs combined for close to 4-thousand yards, that’s just between three running backs. Kind of appropriate that two of those Bulldogs — Todd Gurley and Sony Michel — play against each other in Atlanta’s Super Bowl.
Said Gurley, “It’s the best program in America, for me it speaks for itself. We’ve got guys all around this league that are great players.”
Said Michel, “It’s what Georgia’s known for, their running backs and we kind of take pride in what we do and what we stand for.”
Rams running back Todd Gurley takes credit for fellow Georgia Bulldog Sony Michel’s success with the Patriots.
Said Gurley, “I helped recruit him and Chubb. I’m the reason him and Chubb got to Georgia. Y’all should be thanking me. I remember when he first came in he couldn’t run or catch. I had to teach him how to do all that stuff.”
Said Michel, “Yeah he did.”
Said Gurley, “Hopefully everything I taught him he don’t do it so and he just play like he used to play before I taught him everything.”
Said Michel, “(laughs) I mean I hope I don’t forget it on Sunday. I guess it’s the time to use it. Perfect game.”
But the Super Bowl is different. Michel says he hasn’t talked to Gurley this week. Instead he’s sought advice from the Super Bowl champions around him.”
Said Michel, “I just talk to the guys around me. These guys have a lot of experience themselves. They’ve been in games like this. And they tell me just treat it like another game just prepare well and you’ll have no problems with trying to perform well.”
Sunday’s game could come down to which of these two Georgia running backs perform better. The Rams defense is in the bottom third of the league, allowing 19-hundred yards this season. However, the Patriots rush defense ranks in the *top third.
