Education Secretary

Having a good education can pay off in a person’s life.
That’s why a top White House Official thinks it’s important to get started when kids are young.
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan brought his back to school bus tour to Chattanooga this evening.
Duncan is highlighting the importance of STEM education nationwide.
That stands for education in science, technology, engineering and math.
But he also says it’s crucial to look for opportunities to teach children when they are young.
He says every dollar you invest in education makes a difference.
"The debate for me is pretty simple. Do we think of education as an investment, or do we think of education as an expense. I think many of us in this room think of education as an investment, and the best investment we can make."
Duncan also took his message to cities in Georgia and Alabama.
