Elections Administrator takes leave before November election
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – With less than 50 days left until the November election, Hamilton County’s Administrator of Elections Kerry Steelman is taking a leave of absence.
Commission Chairman Michael Walden says Steelman will not return until after the November 3rd election.
The chairman did not go into to details behind the decision, but Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger said this should not affect the quality of this year’s election.
“I’m confident that we’re going to have a well run election. We’ve got really experienced people to run the November election.”
Assistant Administrator Scott Allen will be filling in for the time being.
