EPB holds green business expo

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — EPB shared its best practices for sustainability by having a green business expo Tuesday morning.

EPB recently received its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification for its headquarters building. The company received its initial LEED certification in 2013.

Elizabeth Hammitt, EPB’s Director of Community & Environmental Stewardship, says vendors at the expo helped EPB reach their environmental goals. She says it benefits everyone when businesses are green.

“I think the importance of being a good environmental steward goes back to the importance of any businesses competitiveness because when you employ that triple bottom line, which is people, planet, prosperity, it is really just a win, win situation,” Hammitt said.

There were ten organizations represented at the expo , including Green|light, Staples Advantage and GreenTrips.
