Etowah woman’s death ruled a homicide

ETOWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) — The death of an Etowah woman, whose body was found in July, was ruled a homicide this week, and her family wants answers.

The mother of Kelsey Burnette says she still has a lot of questions about her daughter’s death.

Burnette’s body was found on July 4, a couple of days after she was reported missing.

Burnette’s mother and other community members are planning to hold a rally on September 23 to show they want to know what happened.

TBI agents say the investigation into Burnette’s death remains active and ongoing. They say her body had been taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy, and this week that agency determined the manner of death to be homicide.
