Not a bad birthday for Lauren Alaina at the CMA Awards

NASHVILLE (WDEF) All and all, not a bad 23rd birthday for Tennessee Valley native Lauren Alaina.

She celebrated the big day at the Country Music Awards Wednesday night in Nashville.

Lauren got her first nomination, her first performance on the show, and walked the Red Carpet.

The night began posing for photographs in a Vitor Zerbinato burgundy dress (with matching, dangling earrings and silver and black accessories) with her boyfriend Alex Hopkins.

Then she took the stage with Dan + Shay to perform an inspiring “Get Together.”

Unfortunately, the fairy tale story ended when they handed out the award for Best New Artist.

Lauren lost the award to Jon Pardi.

But she kept a brave face on during the announcement.

Lauren celebrated her birthday with family on Monday.

Last night my family and friends came over for a birthday party. We had the party on a Monday night because I have been touring in Canada and couldn’t do a weekend. We couldn’t have the party on my actual birthday because this year I’m sharing my bday with the @cma Awards. I will take it! 😉 My family drove in from home on a MONDAY. My friends made time for me during one of the busiest weeks of the year for Nashville. It was such a good reminder for me that life is about the people you love. I’ve been so nervous about the awards because I have my first nomination this year. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to win. After last night, though, I have already won. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with me. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Either way. CAKE. ❤️🎂🎈🇺🇸

And she ends the week with her movie “Road Less Travelled” debuting on CMT Friday night at 7PM.

All and all, this has been a life changing year for the Lakeview native.
