Organizers encourage people to register for Heroes Run

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — So far participation is down for the upcoming Heroes Run. Organizers are encouraging people to sign up for this Saturday’s event.

The race honors the fallen five. It is presented by Erlanger Hospital Trauma Services.

Proceeds will go towards a memorial for the servicemen. Right now 600 people have registered for the run and last year there were 1,100.

Online registration ends on Wednesday at midnight. After that, there will be on site registration on Thursday and Friday, July 12 and 13, from 4-7 p.m. at Hubert Fry Center/Rock Creek at the Tennessee Riverpark during packet pickup. You can’t sign up the day of the run.

“Participation is not as great as it has been in year’s past. But Chattanooga is a last minute town and I know we are going to get everybody to sign up and we are going to be full again this year. It is only $35 and it is for such a great cause,” said Liz Hedges, Director of Business Development at Erlanger.
