Deputy chase ends in fatal crash in Soddy Daisy

Officials say driver was running from officer at over 100 mph with lights out

SODDY DAISY, Tennessee (WDEF) – An early morning law enforcement chase ended in a fatal crash.

Officials with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office say a deputy tried to stop with a missing headlight that was acting suspiciously after 1 AM on Wednesday.

The deputy said he saw the car stop on Dayton Pike at Posey Hollow Road, shut of it’s lights as a person ran across the road to meet it.

But when he tried to stop it, the car sped off.

He says the car cut off another vehicle when it made a turn onto East Highwater Road.

The deputy says the fleeing car shut off it’s lights as it headed down Old Dayton Pike and went over 100 mph.

But the sedan crashed into some trees at Dayton Pike and Walden Road in Soddy Daisy.

Officials say the driver was killed in the crash.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the case.
